Past Exhibit - Wharton to Wendell

Wharton Esherick and Wendell Castle

Wharton and Wendell in 1965

Modernism Museum's debut exhibit, "Wharton to Wendell", opened October 6th, 2013, and offered visitors an opportunity to experience two of the most iconic and influential American Masters of Modernism: Wharton Esherick and Wendell Castle.  Both Esherick and Castle saw the potential for beauty in utilitarian objects and their creations are considered seminal to the Modernism Movement. The exhibit is enhanced by an audio tour allowing visitors to fully experience the art by providing insights into the artist's creative processes and the natural melding of the aesthetic and the functional.
